What is WPF?
The Wilkins Parkinson’s Foundation (WPF) is dedicated to funding programs to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease (PD). It is the Foundation’s belief that increased awareness creates a general groundswell of support for the entire PD community, from research to patient care to education and support groups.
The Wilkins Parkinson’s Foundation believes there is not enough information available to the patients, caregivers and the general public about Parkinson’s disease. Co-Founder Bill Wilkins was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2006 and struggled for over a year to find the appropriate informational sources on the disease itself, how to get involved in the community and where to find support through peer groups of other patients. The Foundation works to bridge these gaps through local, regional and national marketing efforts. The Board of Directors is made up of PD patients, caregivers, business leaders and individuals with non-profit management and pharmaceutical industry experience.
